Ottawa Aviation Services Supports Hope Air

OTTAWA, Canada - September 9, 2010 – Ottawa Aviation Services (“OAS”) today announced that OAS will be supporting Hope Air, the only national charity that provides flights to people in financial need to get to specialized healthcare that does not exist in their local communities. Since 1986, Hope Air has provided over 60,000 flights to Canadians across the country.

OAS will be supporting Hope Air by encouraging staff pilots to volunteer their time on flights for Hope Air using OAS aircraft. In addition, OAS will be providing maintenance to the aircraft of other volunteer pilots at a discounted rate. OAS is also encouraging other aviation customers to volunteer for Hope Air and will be hosting a series of charity events for this purpose.

"Ottawa Aviation Services is very pleased to be supporting Hope Air,” said Cedric Paillard, Co-Owner. “We can think of no better way to support the community than encouraging our pilots to volunteer to help get patients to the medical treatment that they need.”

”Volunteer pilots are an integral part of Hope Air’s services,” says Doug Keller-Hobson, Executive Director of Hope Air. “Our volunteer pilots extend the reach of our services into many smaller, less accessible communities – ensuring that children and adults have access to the medical care they need. We are grateful to Ottawa Aviation Services for their support of Hope Air’s Volunteer Pilot Program.”

About Hope Air

Hope Air is the only national charity that provides flights to people in financial need to get to specialized healthcare that does not exist in their local communities. Hope Air serves people of all ages and with all manner of illnesses or health problems. Most Hope Air clients live at – or below – their local poverty line. Hope Air helps individuals and families get to the healthcare they deserve through the commercial flight program, using seats donated by Canada’s leading national and regional airlines, and through the volunteer pilot program, which recruits private pilots and planes to fly clients. Donations to Hope Air help support the cost of fees and taxes which Hope Air must pay on all flights as well as gas reimbursement for private pilots using their own aircraft. Hope Air is “Getting Canadians to getting better!” Visit www.hopeair.org for more information or to donate.
